Blogger Edgar Obare, 'Kidnapped, Stripped, Threatened'

On Monday, social media personality Xtian Dela claimed that Edgar Obare had been kidnapped while attending a court case. "Breaking: Edgar Obare arrested at Kiambu Law courts as he was attending a mention of his case against Natalie Tewa", posted Dela on his Insta Stories. "His phone confiscated and whereabouts unknown. His family and his lawyer don't know where he has been taken. The police have refused to say where he has been taken."
Come Tuesday, Obare surfaced online to narrate the events as they occurred on the material day. "I had a court a case on November 2nd", he posted on Instagram. "It was meant to be virtual but it was changed last minute. I arrived at 10:00 am and saw my lawyer outside eating smokies as I was going to say hi to him, three plainly dressed men approached me and asked for my name. The quickly whisked me by my pant to a waiting car."
The 28-year-old further alleged that he was driven out of town, stripped and threatened of sexual abuse. "I was mortified and humiliated, these people were complete monsters and they disgust me", the statement read. "They stopped the car shortly after and threw me out of the car in to thorny bushes, still tied up". Obare was later rescued by good Samaritans who "helped me find taxi and get back to Nairobi". The blogger's ordeal has elicited mixed reactions online, take a look at some of them below.

Netflix Hikes Service Prices

Netflix is increasing its prices across major subscription tiers. The streamer's prices will now be $14 for its standard plan, a $1 up. Its premium plan, which offers 4K content and HDR image quality among other benefits, will now cost an additional $2 to cost $18 per month. The basic plan, however, will remain unaffected at $9 - the plan does not offer HD, and is limited for streaming on one device.
"We're updating our prices so that we can continue to offer more variety of TV shows and films in addition to our great fall lineup. As always, we offer a range of plans so that people can pick a price that works best for their budget", said the firm's rep.
The new price hikes currently apply to US subscribers only. Kenya's subscription prices remain Kshs. 700, 950 and 1,200 for the basic, standard and premium plans respectively. As to whether we will feel the pinch as time progresses remains unclear.

Apple Announces 'One More Thing' Event

Apple has announced a "One More Thing" event slated for this November 10th. "Join us from Apple Park. November 10, 2020, at 10 a.m. PST.", reads a statement from the tech firm's blog.
On Monday, tech analyst Neil Cybart tweeted an AR invite from Apple saying, "This is super cool. The Apple event logo in AR resembles opening and closing a MacBook", where he intimated that a new MacBook powered by Apple Silicon was well on its way. This will be a major move as the MacBook has been running on Intel CPUs for 15 years.
The catchphrase "One More Thing" has been defined as iconic in the Apple World previously, as former CEO, the late Steve Jobs, often used it ahead of significant announcements. The surprise event comes a little under a month since Apple released four iPhone 12 models on their most powerful chip yet, the A14 Bionic.
