Haitian singer Wyclef Jean has written and released a song  dedicated to the people of Sudan, which is currently in a state of political uprising. The song,  titled Nubian Queen,  is being distributed for free by the artist.
The Guantanamera singer shared the video -which is a collection of various iconic moments from the Sudan uprising- via social media. "Music will always be the best way I know to express myself So I wrote this song for Sudan," he explained.

Alaa Saleh, the 22 year old student who became the face of the protests against Omar al-Bashir and later military rule, is probably the Nubian Queen that the singer is referring to.
"Sudanese women have always participated in revolutions in this country. If you see Sudan's history, all our queens have led the state. It's part of our heritage," she said back in April.

Other powerful images from the video show protesters standing on buses and waving the Sudanese flag.
Jean is no stranger to activism and political participation. He once ran for president in his native Haiti back in 2010. His campaign was disqualified by the electoral authorities. They also gave no reason as to why he couldn't run.
The Hips Don't Lie singer was born in Haiti but moved to the US at the age of 9. He rose to prominence as a member of the Fugees, along with Lauryn Hill and Pras.
