Despite the film director's initial denial over these remarks, a video later surfaced on the statement she made and this did not sit well with a section of her fans.

2. Commemorating #InternationalDanceDay

April 29th saw the commemoration of International Dance Day, an annual event to encourage participation and education in dance through events and festivals. The event was founded by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) which is the main partner for the performing arts of UNESCO.

Renowned film director John Singleton passes on at 51 following a stroke. 'John passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends', his family confirmed in a statement. Singleton was the first African American to be nominated in the 'Best Director' category at the Oscars for the famous 'Boyz in the Hood' film.

4. First Look at 'Sonic the Hedgehog' Movie Trailer Leaks

The long-awaited Sonic the Hedgehog movie trailer was allegedly leaked online on the eve of the official trailer release date. A Twitter account posted the first still image of the trailer which showcases Jim Carrey as Robotnik -Sonic's nemesis. The movie is slated to hit theaters on November 8,2019.

5. Larry King Suffers Cardiac Arrest

Reports hit headlines that Larry King had suffered a cardiac arrest as he was preparing to head to hospital after an earlier heart attack scare last week. The 85-year-old legendary talk show host was admitted in the intensive care unit and is expected to be released on Monday, May 6.

6. VMAs 2019 Date Announced

This year's Video Music Awards is set to air on August 26th, MTV announced. The ceremony's venue will be New Jersey, a new ground for the show and just the fourth time in its history to air outside Los Angeles.
