Capital FM Sparks Social Media Uproar Over Controversial Madaraka Day Post

The Capital Group-owned radio station received some major backlash after sharing a poster displaying a black face of the American statue of liberty, accompanied with a Kenyan bracelet on the wrist to its 1.4 million followers on Twitter. "This day 57 years ago, KENYA got her MADARAKA", read the poster, "We pray that African Americans also get their LIBERTY soon." The tweet was further captioned, "On this MADARAKA Day, we'd like to EXPRESS our solidarity with everyone still under oppression". Kenyans addressed the distaste of the post, with a number addressing issues affecting the home ground that the station failed to highlight with the same "energy".
One Twitter user said, "Didn't see you do this for evictees in Kariobangi, the femicide in this country, the extrajudicial killings that are rampant, the Baby Pendos, Somali community, and the queer community". Capital is yet to offer an explanation regarding the latest controversy.
