217 New Emojis Introduced

New emojis have arrived on iOS as part of the latest iOS 14.5 beta. A whopping 200 of the 217 new emojis in this release are there to permit a more inclusive set of couples to be chosen from the emoji keyboard.

Hearts are always popular, and the addition of the Heart on Fire and Mending Heart emojis will add to the wide range available. Heart on Fire will be representative of desire or lust, this emoji may also indicate a sense of burning — a past love and moving on. Mending heart will depict a heart shown with a bandage across one side; the opposite of a broken heart. May be used to indicate the process of healing, recovery, or to express sympathy for someone going through a difficult time.

New smileys will include an Exhaling Face, Face with Spiral Eyes and Face in Clouds. For gender consistency and inclusivity purposes, there will now be options to specify a woman with a beard, or a man with a beard. Also included in this update is a vaccine-friendly syringe emoji, and support for couples with a mix of skin tones.

These updates are in the latest iOS 14.5 beta 2 available for developers now. As with all beta software, designs are subject to change prior to the final release. Click here for every new emoji that is supported in iOS 14.5.

Cruella Trailer Released

Disney has released the official trailer for Cruella, a prequel inspired by 101 Dalmatians movie. Directed by Craig Gillespie, the all-new live-action feature film is about the rebellious early days of one of cinemas most notorious – and notoriously fashionable – villains, the legendary Cruella de Vil.

Cruella, which is set in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, follows a young grifter named Estella (Emma Stone), a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs. She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets. One day, Estella’s flair for fashion catches the eye of the Baroness von Hellman (Emma Thompson), a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and terrifyingly haute. But their relationship sets in motion a course of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her wicked side and become the raucous, fashionable and revenge-bent Cruella.

Cruella is set for a theatrical release on May 28th, 2021. Check out the trailer and poster below.

TIME reveals the 2021 TIME100 Next list, an expansion of the flagship TIME100 franchise that recognizes 100 emerging leaders who are shaping the future of entertainment, health, politics, business and more.

The 2021 TIME100 Next issue features six worldwide covers, each highlighting a member of the list: performer Dua Lipa, actor Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, athlete Marcus Rashford, Prime Minister of Finland Sanna Marin, fashion designer Telfar Clemens, and author Brit Bennett.

TIME editor in chief and CEO Edward Felsenthal writes in his letter to readers: “Amid a global pandemic, deepening inequality, systemic injustice and existential questions about truth, democracy and the planet itself, the individuals on this year’s list provide ‘clear-eyed hope,’ as actor, composer and director Lin-Manuel Miranda puts it in his tribute to poet and TIME100 Next honoree Amanda Gorman.
