Netflix Apologizes For 'Seductive' Promo Materials on Child Star Film
Netflix has apologized for promotional materials for upcoming film "Cuties" that "sexualized" a young black star. The Maïmouna Doucouré-directed French-language film centers around eleven-year-old, Amy, who starts to rebel against her conservative family's traditions when she becomes fascinated with a free-spirited dance crew, according to Netflix's site."We're deeply sorry for the inappropriate artwork that we used for Mignonnes/Cuties. It was not OK, nor was it representative of this French film which won an award at Sundance", tweeted Netflix on Thursday, despite thousands calling for the streaming platform to scrap the film from its catalogue altogether."Cuties" won 'World Cinematic Directing Award' at Sundance in January and is set for premiere on Netflix September 9,2020.Netflix WTF IS THIS pic.twitter.com/v4FjZkH7K5
