The weekend saw a myriad of hot topics on the Kenyan Twitter platform where the social network was nothing short of entertaining. From #SomeoneTellNjokiChege to the Lisa Gaitho break up saga.
News broke out on Friday following a confirmation on speculations of possible cross-messaging merger between Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram. According to confirmed sources, each service will still serve as a stand-alone App. "We want to build the best messaging experiences we can; and people want messaging to be fast, simple, reliable and private", said a Facebook spokesperson.
Users however were not thrilled with this statement due to the previous privacy issues Facebook has developed overtime and what this would mean to them having their messaging privacy spread across their three most socially used platforms.

#SomeOneTellNjokiChege had Kenyans on Twitter literally sipping tea as they watched drama unfold against Nation's 'City Girl' columnist Njoki Chege by the infamous prophet Owuor's army of followers. Njoku put up an article accusing Prophet Owuor of being a fake quoting, "It is time to stop this bearded nutcase Prophet Owuor, aka mightiest prophet". The prophet's battalion did not take this lightly coming at her with equal force on Twitter. The trends also included #NjokiChegeShouldKnow which gained the 4th spot on Twitter for the better part of Sunday morning.
Njoki's article was seemingly inspired by the death of one Mama Rosa whom Owuor's followers claimed she was resurrected back in June 2018 but later died (again) mid-January,2019.

This group of followers has previously engaged such attacks on various other media including Citizen TV for airing a 2016 video footage which they passed off as Owuor's New Year's Eve visit to Nakuru. Nation Media's NTV for claiming they had kidnapped a young lady in their defense stating the parents to the young lady were abusing her.
Lisa Gaitho, Kenyan YouTube personality announced on her latest vlog over the weekend that she was dumped and was now celibate. The vlogger rose to fame after putting up a blog back in 2018 'advising' young women on how to keep their men. This included, bathing their men, which caused an uproar on social media. Lisa's boyfriend was a 70-year-old Nigerian man who apparently dumped her after getting another woman.
