News broke on twitter this past Wednesday about two renowned local gospel artistes who allegedly sexually exploited a female fan and infected her with HPV.
The story exposed via YouTube personality Xtian Dela's Telegram group mentions 'Pray for Me' singer Hopekid and 'Asusu' hit maker DK Kwenye Beat as the two perpetrators. The story quickly gained traction on Twitter where it's still currently a trending topic, even dragging poor Size 8 into the mix.
The victim, a 20-year-old Nakuru girl whose name is withheld, revealed how she would direct message musicians with requests for gigs to feature on their videos as a model. One of the responses came from Mr. X, as Hopekid refer to himself on IG. He asked the lady to pay him a visit in Nairobi. She obliged with the notion that it was a professional meet up.
On arrival to Nairobi, the lady, a university student, not only met Mr. X, but also another man, Mr.Y (DK Kwenye Beat). She further goes on to state that they drove over to Mr. Y's residence, instead of Mr. X's as agreed. The three had a sexual encounter.
The lady travelled back home where later on, she was approached by the so-called Mr. Y to pay him a visit again, this time without the mutual friend Mr. X. She explains that a week after the encounter, she was diagnosed with Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), a wart-causing infection spread by sexual contact.
Last evening, the two gentlemen came out clean, seeking forgiveness from Kenyans and their fans. In a Facebook post, Hopekid confirmed the story in part saying, "…I have done wrong before God and man, I am truly sorry."
DK Kwenye Beat released a five-part video on his social platforms explaining why he engaged in the act, despite having a girlfriend. With the aid of 'Holy Holy' musician, Size 8, DK explains a tale of how he had lived an 'ungodly' life in the past year and was on the verge of reforming when the expose broke out.
Despite the apologies, Kenyans were having none of it. Here are some of the reactions:

Size 8 this morning has also been under fire on Twitter for showing support to these artistes despite their wrong doing.

Kenyans on Twitter are more furious on why the two did not offer apologies to the victim who states that upon the infection, she had to part with Ksh 5,000 (borrowed from her sister) to cover for the medical expenses. This was after DK refused to answer any of her calls.
Is it time to #MuteHopekid and #MuteDK?
