Nike+ Training Club App Review

When I found the Nike+ Training Club app, I couldn’t believe I hadn’t heard of it before. More so, I couldn’t believe it was free. The app is your own personal smartphone trainer, helping you stay in shape with over 100 professional-level workouts. Here are 7 things I absolutely love about my new training buddy.

1. It’s free
Having downloaded workout apps before only to find that 95% of their content require premium access, I am impressed that such a quality app as Nike+ Training Club doesn’t want a dime from me.  I literally went through the whole app within five minutes of downloading it, in search of restrictions. And there were none. It’s all free baby!

2. Content
The app contains about 160 workout guides and allows you to browse based on your workout objective. The three possible objectives are Strength Training (get fit and build muscle), Endurance Training (cardio and overall fitness) and Mobility Training (flexibility and full body fitness).  A workout session ranges from as little as 7 minutes to as long as 45 minutes.

3. Guided sessions
When I say it’s a personal trainer, I mean it. Each workout guide has a download option which activates audio and video. The narrator describes each move as you perform it, similar to what a real-life trainer would do.

4. Doesn’t require internet connectivity
While internet access definitely improves the experience, it is not necessary. Each guide lists the moves, time required for each, and a small video to demonstrate. Only the download capability described above is disabled.

5. Levels
The app takes into account the point you are at in your fitness journey. There are three levels of fitness on the app: beginner, intermediate and advanced. Of course, you can select workouts across all levels but picking a level allows the app to suggest workouts for you.

6. No equipment required
While some workout guides are for gym goers, most of the available ones on the app only require basic aids like a yoga mat, dumbbells, kettlebells. Some workouts do not require equipment at all.

7. Available for both iOS and Android
While the app was previously for iOS users only, it is now available on Google Play Store. So, go ahead and download it – Just Do It!
