Stieg Larsson's brilliant but misanthropic character, Lisabeth Salander returns to screens in Fede Alavarez's adaptation of the novel, 'The Girl in the Spider's Web'. Both the lead actress, Claire Foy, and the director have big shoes to fill after David Fincher's successful execution of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Foy who's known for her role as Queen Elizabeth in Netflix's The Crown replaces Rooney Mara as Lisabeth Salander.
The Girl in the Spider's Web follows Salander and journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Sverirr Gudnason) on a vigilante mission to avenge and stop a series of high profile cyber crimes and corruption scandals using her brand of feminist vengeance which involves punishing men guilty of physically and sexually abusing women. One of the antagonists in the film is Lisabeth's twin sister, Camila Salander (Slyvia Hoeks), whose questionable activities lead to an all out fight of good-versus-evil between the sisters.
Rumor has it Alavarez's version of Lisabeth will be the female James Bond as he centers the narrative on her by telling the story through her eyes.
The Girl in the Spider's Web is set to release locally on 9th November. Buy your tickets here.
