The Candidate ended after a short run on Citizen TV. The last episode saw a lot of things happen but the worst of which was seeing Gerardo die. I am all for exploring options when it comes to creative finales but tragic endings are not my favorite.For Regina and Gerardo, it was a rollercoaster ride and they fought all the odds against them to be together but unfortunately it was never meant to be. Gerardo died in a bullet shoot out after he learnt that a drug syndicate was financing Regina's campaign without their knowledge. Regina was in the shoot-out as well but miraculously managed to dodge all the bullets as she ran across the firing range to get to Gerardo who died on the spot.Cecilia survived her drug addiction and was admitted to rehab. Mario became a paraplegic who could no longer take care of himself so his wife took over the responsibility.Regina was able to continue her campaign against Alonso with the backing of the public alone and won the election while Alonso flew out into the sunset. The Televisa production was promising with it's out of the ordinary plot line about Politics, Corruption and infidelity among numerous other themes but in my view, it was not Silvia Navarro's best work.                                                                           Mary Njehia is an ardent watcher of soap operas and telenovelas.
