Reactions: ‘Tetema’ by Diamond and Rayvanny Is the New ‘Kwangwaru’

What happened to #PlayKeMusic? Did we forget that quickly? Or is Diamond Platnumz that good? Diamond and Rayvanny dropped a new song, Tetema, a few days ago and it seems it’s getting a lot of airplay in Kenya. I honestly think we are a disloyal bunch.

You can watch the video here:

The song already hit 1million views in the short time it has been on YouTube and even one Kenyan tweep, Njiiru, noted, “nikama play Kenyan music hii mwaka pia haitawesa (it’s like Play Kenyan Music won’t be achieved this year).” Bongo music fans in Kenya are loving the song and word on the street is that it’s getting rotated in clubs a lot as well. Were you out this weekend? Is this true?

Well, Kenyans took to Twitter to share their opinions about the airplay this new song is getting. It also gets interesting because the music video of the song, which has also elicited a #Tetemachallenge, is being labelled by some fans as ‘unoriginal.’

A section of the video was apparently taken from Tyler the Creator’s “See you again.” Tyler released his song last year. We can’t blame Diamond, creativity is all about sharing ideas. Hmmm…

Check out this clip comparing the two videos:

Tyler the Creator should now visit East Africa because we clearly appreciate his work. Such an inspiration! Diamond and Rayvanny are yet to respond to the allegations thrown at them. Here are some of the reactions from Kenyans regarding Tetema.
