The Kenyan dance queens GQ Dancers appear in Jason Derulo's newest music video 'Let's Shut Up and Dance' which was released over the weekend.
The song is part of a project set to pay tribute and celebrate the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Jason Derulo collaborated on the song with K-Pop boy group NCT 127 and EXO's Lay as a solo act. The video includes some of Michael Jackson's most iconic dance moves and calls girls from across the world to show some moves.
Kenya's GQ Dancers were flown to Ethiopia early in January for the shoot, as the song lyrics say, 'Ethiopian girls come and show me somethin…'.
Asked about what their inclusion in the video means for them, GQ member Gladys Njihia had this to say; "It is a career goal to work with such amazing artists. This proves that if we keep at it, we can achieve even greater goals."
The all-girl dance group are self-professed fans of K-Pop music, and they recently held the first ever K-Pop dance classes in Kenya. They therefore sited their admiration for K-Pop stars NCT 127 and Lay saying, "These artists are serious about art and if we want to get to a level where we are working or competing with such world class performers, we should take our art just as seriously."
