Omondi Ochuka is a writer, poet, artist. He also teaches Economics part time.
Dua Ya Nafsi is his seventh studio album. It is one of the 3 series of projects he is to release in the next 4 months. It is a fusion of Hip Hop/rap, spokenword and skits. Like most of his writings, Omondi uses music for therapy and documenting his life's thoughts, philosophy and experience.
In Dua Ya Nafsi, he opens up to the lessons, adventures, journey and experience. Prominent themes include his long term battle with liver cancer, pain, love, inspiration, spirituality and the impact of music on well-being.
What is the place of story (telling) in the healing process? What is radical acceptance? What does pain teaches humanity? How do you document life beyond the words, turning them into music? Would others relate to the personal stories we share? How is it, living with cancer? What are some of the ways of coping? What focus do we give mental health and well-being? Who are the people that our lives touch and include? What is prayer? How do we build relationships with ourselves before we share those intimate thoughts, stories and stories with others?
He explores these among other questions in this album and other works.
Omondi's works are in English, Swahili, Sheng' and Dholuo.
His other works include:
Meeting the Eclipse (2014)
Hembko Mag Yiko (2015)
