The Kenya Meteorological department just issued an advisory asking us to prepare for 3 months of chilly weather. It's going to be icy!
This may seem like dreary news but there is a whole range of benefits as to why you should send your wee ones out to play outside.
Boost their immune system
Letting your kids play outside in this cold weather (swaddled of course) pumps up their immune system. Get your babies' cells to adapt and prepare for extreme weather. They were built for this! The flu is brought about by a virus, NOT the cold. Don't believe us? Look it up on mayo clinic. Developing resilience is important for life.
Exercise
Kids who spend time outdoors tend to run around more, as well as climbing, jumping and balancing, so they're fitter and healthier. And when they're on the move in all that fresh air, kids don't tend to feel the cold as much, either. Bonus!
Playing Outside= Creativity!
Playing outside usually means kids are entertaining themselves or making up games with friends, often using available resources and making do with whatever's available.  Sure beats TV and devices. Enjoying time outside is a way to get your kids to get creative and enjoy the great outdoors. If they're fans of Disney's 'Frozen', the cold shouldn't bother them anyway J
Kids need Vitamin D!
Yes, it may be an ice box outside the sun still comes out even if it's just for a short while. Kids need a good dose of vitamin D to be healthy so make sure they get some of that natural sunlight.
Reward your kids afterwards for being good sports with a steaming mug of hot chocolate.
