Entertaining kids in Mombasa can be a bit expensive. If your finances are tight, here are 5 budget- friendly spaces in Mombasa that can accommodate kids for 500 bob or less.
Haller Park
Formerly known as Bamburi Nature Trail, the park consists of a game sanctuary, reptile park, small demonstration fish farm, palm garden, crocodile pens and a giraffe viewing platform, offering a variety of attractions to educate and entertain you and the kids. Entry to the park is Ksh 500 for adults and Ksh 200 for kids. The park is open daily from  10:00 AM and closes at 5:00PM
Mombasa Butterfly House
One of the best live butterfly exhibits in Africa, Mombasa Butterfly House presents you with a paradise of tropical butterflies and an unforgettable experience. 
The world class facility invites you to enjoy a natural environment, learn about biodiversity and its importance to local communities. 
The butterfly house is located in the Fort Jesus Museum. Open Daily from 8:30am to 5:30pm
Entry fee for citizen adults is Ksh 200 and 100 bob for Kids
Mombasa Marine National Park & Reserve
The park lies between the Mtwapa and Tudor Creeks and its blue, inviting waters are ideal for wind surfing, water skiing, snorkelling and diving. This marine park is also home to a variety of marine species including crabs, starfish, stone fish, sea urchins, corals, turtles, sea grasses and interesting migratory birds.  Access to the park is Ksh 100 for both adults and kids. You can view these amazing sea creatures through privately owned glass-bottom boats.
Fort Jesus 
This 400+ year old fort in Old Town Mombasa is rich in history and Portuguese aesthetics. Now a museum and UNESCO world heritage site, Fort Jesus has exhibits consisting of finds from archaeological excavations at Fort Jesus, Gede, Manda, Ungwana and other sites. Your kids will immerse themselves in rich history and beautiful aesthetics. Entry to the fort is Ksh 200 for adults and Ksh 100 for kids.
Mama Ngina Waterfront
The 26-acre waterfront public space features a cultural centre, a natural amphitheatre and a 2 km promenade with space for food vendors who offer an array of delicious street food. You can picnic here whilst enjoying the sea breeze. Entry Free.
