Kenyans can now buy refurbished iPhones after goAfrica, an e-commerce platform, partnered with Foxconn and iFP(ifengpai) to ship recommissioned iPhones into the market.
The phones are expected to be at least 30% cheaper than new phones at Apple shops.
goAfrica hopes to plug the market that prefers Android handsets over iPhones due to pricing.
iFP, a Chinese company, is the only authorized reseller of pre-used iPhones. The deal would make goAfrica the only distributor of such iPhones in Africa.
The iPhone models currently in stock are iPhone SE, iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S Plus, 7 and 7 Plus. They also have a one-year warranty attached and can be serviced at Apple service centres in Nairobi.
Foxconn is a Taiwanese company that manufactures various electronics and also owns Sharp Corporation. It is considered the world's largest electronics manufacturer.
