In less than 8 hours, the focus will turn to Russia as they host the World Cup 2018. The opening ceremony, which is expected to be grand and colourful, takes place at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow tonight. Have you been able to pronounce that? Twitter is ablaze with all things football under the hashtag –World Cup.
I did not know there’s #HappyWorldCupDay. If you ask me, we should all be out of our places of work and celebrating but life goes on. Russia is set to host 32 countries that’ll be competing for the golden trophy in a total of 64 games. There are those of you who don’t know what the fuss about men chasing after a leather ball is all about. We understand. You can check out advice for football widows here.
Here are some of the tweets that capture the excitement and frustrations of those who are not fans. Oh, the United States will be hosting the World Cup in 2026. Now you’re in the know. May the best team *Brazil, ahem* win.

I heard a psychic pig predicted that Nigeria will reach the semi-finals of the #WorldCup. If we don't we will kill that pig, arrest the owner and jail the news publisher. You people cannot be raising our hopes anyhow.
