Today you may have noticed a dip in follower on your Instagram, maybe even an unusual change of Twitter's action buttons such as likes and retweets.
Incredibly, all these changes have nothing to do with any actions by the respective social platforms.
When users woke up on Wednesday morning panicking due to an unusual drop out of their follower count on Instagram, most assumed it was an action which Instagram had announced back in November 2018 about getting rid of 'fake followers'.
However, in a tweet, Instagram cleared the air explaining, "We're aware of an issue that is causing a change in account follower numbers for some people right now. We're working to resolve this as quickly as possible."
"Update: we're expecting to have this issue resolved by 9 a.m. PST tomorrow. We understand this is frustrating, and our team is hard at work to get things back to normal,"Instagram support team added.

Justin Bieber, Kylie Jenner and Cristiano Ronaldo's accounts which boast of over 100 million followers presumably lost close to 1 million followers each.
This comes in the wake of reports circulating about fake Instagram information where they'll be deleting all inactive accounts inclusive of those that don't post or like.

Twitter also experienced a problem on the 13th of February causing a massive fluctuation of either the number of likes, or retweets in a tweet. Whilst many people might not have noticed this, Twitter's support team confirmed the issue, "Some people around the world are experiencing an issue with notifications, likes and retweets. We're working on resolving this and will follow up soon. We apologize for the inconvenience."
