Three (3) years ago, the state imposed a ban on logging in all major forests in Kenya as a measure to curb deforestation which was out of control.  The ban restricted extraction of timber from the forests to give Kenya Forest Service (KFS) more time to implement measures to protect forests.
Recently, Environment Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko has exempted the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) from a logging ban in public and community forests and allowed the agency to sell mature trees to timber merchants and also internally produce sustainable furniture.
KFS subsidiary, Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI)  produces eco-friendly furniture that has great benefits for the environment and our well-being. Eco-friendly furniture causes less damage to the environment and makes your home environment safer. When you choose eco furniture made with minimal amounts of chemicals, you get less harmful pollutants, like volatile organic compounds (VOCs), released into your home's air. Paints, fabrics, furniture, carpets and building materials can all release VOCs that cause allergies, migraines and asthma.
KEFRI produces quality, sustainable pieces from wooden wall art to pallet coffee tables, bamboo outdoor furniture and  Eucalyptus grandis. You can order custom-made pieces for your space too.
