The Politician (Season 1)

Genre: Comedy
Cast: Gwyneth Paltrow, Barbra Streisand, Ben Platt
Language: English

Our top pick and probably one you’ve heard the most about this week is the first big project from Ryan Murphy exclusively available on Netflix.

The Politician documents a student attending a posh high school and will do anything to become the student president with higher political ambitions yonder.

It’s a great drama and a must-watch for Glee fans as it shares most of its DNA with that series.

American Horror Story (Season 8)

Genre: Drama, Horror, Thriller
Cast: Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Denis O’Hare, Kathy Bates
Runtime: 60 min
Language: English

We’re sticking with Ryan Murphy for our second pick as his long-running horror series from FX got an update on Netflix this week.

The series has definitely slipped recently but still remains infinitely watchable. Here’s what you can expect from this season of the anthology series:

As nuclear Armageddon pushes the world to the very brink, a coven of badass witches steps up as humanity’s final hope against the Antichrist.

El Recluso / The Inmate (Season 1)

Genre: Drama, Thriller
Cast: Ignacio Serricchio, Ana Claudia Talancón, Flavio Medina, Luis Felipe Tovar
Runtime: 60 min
Language: Spanish

We’re saving most of our foreign series picks for a little further in this article but we wanted to give special attention to this Telemundo series.

The Inmate is a perfect stopgap for anyone wanting a new prison drama and since Prison Break isn’t on Netflix anymore, this a great substitute.

It’s about an undercover Marine heading into a Mexican prison trying to find the gang who kidnapped a VIP’s daughter.

Glitch (Season 3)

Genre: Drama, Sci-Fi
Cast: Patrick Brammall, Emma Booth, Sean Keenan, Hannah Monson

Our fourth pick is the departure season for thee Australian sci-fi series Glitch.

We’ll see even more people return from the dead with no recollection of how they got there but more importantly than that, we get some answers.

The series has been one of the best pickups from Australia for Netflix and this final season is a perfect sendoff.
