In the face of oppression, artistic activism is a dynamic practice that combines the creative power of the arts to stir us emotionally with the intricate planning of activism necessary to bring about social change.
Artists all over the world use art as a tool of dissent. They aren't necessarily claiming to have the answers but they are provoking questions. And it takes a tremendous amount of bravery to decide that people need to make something and put it into the world.
Arts Space and Technical University of Kenya (TUK) theater team have come together to bring us a play that is intended to get audiences thinking.
Wine and Coach is a story of a local young musician who starts a political revolution through art. He releases a trending song in a bid to oust a greedy, self-centered, corrupt dictator of a president who is in constant violation of human rights.
It is a tale of political dictatorship, deceit and betrayal; action packed with musical masterpieces.
Written by Brian Misiati and directed by Thomas Wellington, Wine and Coach alludes to  a certain regional present government under the leadership of a strong man who has wielded power over citizens for over three decades.
Watch this riveting political musical this weekend 2nd & 3rd April from 5-8PM at Technical University of Kenya's main hall.
