Cassper Nyovest is facing backlash for expressing his wish to be Nigerian. The South African rapper caused a stir on social media when he quoted a fan, “Won’t even lie. I wish i was from Nigeria too. The love they have for their (sic) own artists…”, in light of a discussion regarding the state of the South African music industry. Fans did not take his sentiments lightly, claiming to have supported the rapper since the beginning of his musical career.
Won’t even lie. I wish i was from Nigeria too. The love they have for thier own artists, the way they celebrate their culture, 90% local content on radio and Tv, there way they celebrate their music no matter where they are in the world, the unity within thier industry. A DREAM! https://t.co/goh02gHjtB
