1. Khaligraph’s Nipsey tribute stirs up a storm

In tribute to recently fallen American rapper Nipsey Hussle, Khaligraph Jones released freestyle tribute that ruffled more than a few feathers; for and against him.  A section of #KOT heavily criticised  the “Omolo” hitmaker for not doing the same for Kantai; the late Kenyan artist who passed away in late February. A sections of fans spoke up for Khaligraph too.

2. Kodak Black “cancelled” over insensitive comments towards Lauren London

Kodak Black found himself on the wrong side of Black Twitter once again. The rapper made flirtatious comments towards Lauren London less than a week after her long term boyfriend Nipsey Hussle was shot dead outside his store. No sooner had he apologized than reports surfaced that he’ll be facing a rape charge which allegedly took place after a concert in 2016.

3. Steve Mbogo’s Range Rover impounded over “fraudulent” plates

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) announced that they impounded the politician’s  vehicle in a recent tweet. The impound was on the premise that the Range Rover’s number plates matched with those already assigned to a Toyota Probox car. Mbogo has since come out stating that he bought the vehicle from a bazaar two years ago with everything, including the plates.

4. JHus released from prison, performs with Drake after

Shortly after being granted an early release from prison, JHus treated fans to a surprise appearance during Drake’s concert in London over the weekend. The British national was sentenced to eight months in December after being found carrying a knife at a time when knife crime rate was on a high.

5. Disney releases new ‘Descendants 3’ trailer

The popular musical fantasy flicks Descendants debuted in 2015. They  follow the magical adventures of the sons and daughters of classic Disney villains. The new trailer debuted during a TV show over the weekend;  giving fans more details on the great evil bound to descend on the realm. This latest trailer showcases American Horror Story star Cheyenne Jackson looking formidably fashionable as the villainous Hades. The release date is yet to be announced but is rumored to be around July 2019, based on its previous sequels.

6. Netflix Teases an Upcoming Beyoncé Special

The world was arguably mesmerised by Beyoncé’s  iconic 2018 Coachella Festival performance. From the looks of things, her historic performance is set to appear in full streaming glory. Netflix has teased a new special about Queen Bey called Homecoming, with the release date being Wednesday, April 17. Not much is known about what to expect from the special, although inside scoop reveales that it may feature her performances from Coachella plus some documentary footage from the behind-the-scenes prep.

7. Commemorating #WorldHealthDay

The annual event is celebrated to keep track of how far the World Health Organization has come in ensuring adequate health standards worldwide. This year’s theme is achieving universal health care as one of the key targets of the 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development.

8. Big Wins at American Country Music Awards

Every year the American Country Music Awards celebrates the latest and greatest talents in the scene.  This year Country music icon Reba McEntire returned to hosting the 54th edition for the 16th time. Chris Stapleton and Keith Urban were major front runners in the top categories, with Urban taking home the entertainer of the year crown.

9. Surprises galore at WWE WrestleMania 35

The biggest wrestling show of the year gave fans unexpected surprises such as Kurt Angle losing the farewell match to Baron Corbin. Both Roman Reigns and Triple H defeated Drew McIntyre and Batista respectively and Kofi Kingston become the only second black man to hold the WWE Championship.
