Larry Madowo Lands Prestigious Journalism Award

Larry Madowo has won the 2020 Philip Greer Award for his financial writing at the University of Columbia's Journalism School, New York.
An elated Madowo made the announcement via his Twitter: "I spent months reporting on Jumia's first year on the NYSE from Lagos, Berlin, Nairobi & New York for my @ColumbiaJournMA thesis. My 9,000-word piece just won the 2020 Philip Greer Award for Financial Writing. I'm also co-authoring an MBA case study on it at @Columbia_Biz School".
Larry Madowo, a former NTV News Anchor and host of the TV show, The Trend, headed a team of journalists at BBC Africa as the Business Editor, before taking a break to pursue his studies at the University. He is also a regular contributor for the Washington Post's Global Opinions page, CNN Africa and Forbes.

Ruby Rose Exits 'Batwoman' Series

Ruby Rose has quit her lead role in the hit drama series "Batwoman" after one season. "I have made the very difficult decision to not return to Batwoman next season," The 34-year-old actress said in a statement, adding, "This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show in both Vancouver and in Los Angeles."
Warner Bros. responded in a statement thanking her for contributions made for the show's first season's success, wishing her the best and further promising fans to recast another LGBTQ lead role for its upcoming season 2 in 2021.

Commemorating Malcolm X

Malcolm X would have been 95 years old today. Described as one of the most prominent figures in the civil rights movement, Malcolm X was assassinated in 1965 by rival Black Muslims while addressing his organization in Washington.

Ravi Zacharias Dies at 74

Renowned Christian evangelist Ravi Zacharias has passed on at age 74. His ministry confirmed in a statement that Zacharias succumbed to Sarcoma on Tuesday, "This morning, our beloved founder and apologist @RaviZacharias went home to be with Jesus." The Indian-born preacher and author was popular for his evangelical defense of the Christian doctrines.
Zacharias is survived by his wife, three children and five grandchildren.
