YouTube Launches TikTok Rival, Shorts

YouTube has launched Shorts, a new short-form video tool that lets creators and artists shoot snappy videos with nothing but their mobile phones. Videos up to 60 seconds long can be recorded in a vertical format, edited, and shared by users using #Shorts to be featured in the app's dedicated Shorts feed. To create a Short video on YouTube;
  • Sign in to YouTube on mobile.
  • Tap Create a Short beta. To record a clip, hold the capture button, or tap it to start recording and then again to stop.
  • Tap  Undo to remove the previous video clip you recorded or tap  Redo to add it back.
  • Tap NEXT to preview your video, tap NEXT again to add details to your video.
  • Add a title (max 100 characters) to your short video.
  • Tap Select audience to choose whether or not your Short is made for kids.
  • Tap UPLOAD to finish.
You can also use various creative features, including music and sound, text, speed and timer.
YouTube's Shorts feature, which is similar to TikTok and (for the better part) Instagram Reels, is currently rolling out in the United States before expanding to other countries. "As we launch our beta in the US, we'll have millions of songs (and growing), and music catalogs from over 250 labels and publishers. As we expand Shorts, the library and number of partners will continue to grow," said Neal Mohan, YouTube's Chief Product Officer in a statement.
However, unlike the YouTube platform, ads won't be served on Shorts, and they won't generate a YouTube Premium subscription revenue. Will you be using Shorts? Let us know on Twitter @KenyaBuzz!

New Godzilla Vs. Kong Trailer Released

In the new trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong, legends clash as these mythic foes face off in a spectacular battle for the ages, with the fate of the world on the line. Kong and his protectors embark on a treacherous journey in search of his true home, and Jia, a young orphaned girl with whom he has developed a strong bond, joins them.
However, they find themselves in the path of an angry Godzilla, who is wreaking havoc around the world. The initial clash between the two Titans, which was sparked by unseen forces, is only the start of the mystery that lies deep within the Earth's core.
The release date for the franchise's third installment, which was originally set for May 21st, has been pushed up following a deal between Legendary Entertainment, the production company, and Warner Bros. on a release strategy. Legendary was initially dissatisfied with Warner Bros.' decision to release all of its 2021 films on HBO Max on the same day that they were released in theaters.
Godzilla vs. Kong is slated for a theatrical and streaming release (HBO Max) on March 31st. Check out the latest trailer and first reviews below.
