Commemorating Late E-Sir’s Anniversary
Netizens have taken to various social media platforms in commemoration of the late Issah Wangui Mmari, popularly known as E-Sir’s 18th anniversary. Veterans Wahu, Nameless, Wahu and Nonini paid tribute to the late rapper last weekend by visiting his grave.
“Special Sunday as we remembered the late E-Sir! He would have been turning 40 this year. We also took time and visited Ferouz [Singer Nazizi’s late brother] as well. Thank you,” wrote Nonini on Instagram last Sunday.
E-Sir passed on in a tragic road accident along the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway in 2003. On the material day, the Moss Moss hit maker was in the company of Nameless when the accident occurred but the latter survived, escaping with a broken collar bone.
E-Sir, who has been credited as one of Kenya’s greatest musical pioneers, was 21 at the time of his death.

Concrete Cowboy Trailer Released
Netflix has released the official trailer for Concrete Cowboy, an upcoming drama film starring Idris Elba. Inspired by author G. Neri’s novel Ghetto Cowboy, Concrete Cowboy follows 15-year-old Cole (Caleb McLaughlin) whom when expelled from school in Detroit, is sent to North Philadelphia to live with Harp (Elba), his estranged father.
Harp finds solace in rehabilitating horses for inner city cowboys at the Fletcher Street Stables, a real-life black urban horsemanship community that has provided a safe haven for the neighborhood residents for more than 100 years. Torn between his growing respect for his father’s community and his reemerging friendship with troubled cousin Smush (Jharrel Jerome), Cole begins to reprioritize his life as the stables themselves are threatened by encroaching gentrification.
Concrete Cowboy premieres on the streaming platform April 2, 2021. Check out the trailer and official poster below.
