Anita Nderu's Pride-Themed Cook-Off Irks Netizens

Anita Nderu's online show, "The Overdressed Cook" has ruffled feathers on the interwebs. On Thursday, the media personality posted a promo of the cook-off featuring two gay men Victor Maina and one Romeo whose conversation was "explicit", to say the least. What really irked netizens, however, was the probability of the show passing off as a marketing campaign for a renowned cooking oil brand, based on the product's strategic angle in the clip.
Following massive backlash online, the brand took to Twitter distancing itself from any involvement in the video saying, "Fresh Fri would like to state that we have not engaged Anita Nderu for product placement or any other advertising of any kind". Anita shortly set the record straight tweeting, "The brand under fire was and is in no way involved with The #OVERDRESSEDCOOK , it was just a coincidence it happened to be what we were using in the kitchen as has been with all other episodes".
This also brought to light acute homophobia widely visible in the country, as a faction of netizens vowed to throw away the brand's products if indeed it was a marketing campaign.
