What's Up, WhatsApp? Now a Data Mining App

WhatsApp recently announced changes to its Terms of Service set to take effect from February 8th, of which your privacy may be affected. The popular messaging app attributes the move to a planned service integration with other Facebook family of Apps -- Facebook, Messenger and Instagram to monetize the platform.
"WhatsApp receives information from, and shares information with, the other Facebook Companies. We may use the information we receive from them, and they may use the information we share with them, to help operate", reads the policy. According to the messaging platform, users have two options - either agree to the changes or exit the app altogether.
Your contact list, location and financial information are some of the things that will be compromised should you accept the terms. WhatsApp, however, maintains that your conversations will remain encrypted end-to-end.
Users have taken to social media calling out the platform and urging others to migrate to alternative platforms, Signal and Telegram.
