Artcaffé Giving Creatives Exposure Art-No-Feé?

Twitterati's wrath has befallen renowned Kenyan brand Artcaffé. On Tuesday morning, the coffee house made a call for artists to design their take-away coffee ups in compensation of "coffee and exposure". "ANNOUNCING our #ARTofthecity competition! Calling all creatives of the city...help us jazz up our take-away coffee cup and WIN BIG with Artcaffé!". The deal seemed good, until the prizes were revealed.
First prize included exhibition space in one of the restaurants for 2 months, or an internship and (get this) free coffee for a year.Second and third prizes also included free coffee for six months and three months respectively. Kenyans were furious with the coffee house, advising them to rethink their strategy and instead pay the creatives in cash.
"Tone deaf much?" Artcaffé later in the evening tweeted in its defense, seemingly failing to understand what the problem was, exposure. The coffee house was yet to issue a follow-up statement at the time of publishing this story.
UPDATE: Artcaffé has since updated  the competition prizing to include a paid internship, Kshs. 100K,50K and 30K cash prizes and artist feature on their website among others.

Nigerian Songstress Simi Criticized for Past Homophobic Comments

Simi's past insensitive remarks are biting back. A few months ago, the "Know You" Nigerian singer addressed her thoughts on LGBTQ via her YouTube channel "Stoopid Sessions" where she said, "They say they're born that way, but I haven't seen any biological proof".
On Monday, she did offer a lengthy apology on her social media which partly read, "I carelessly and casually addressed an issue that is a matter of life and death for many. It was not my intention to you, but I did, and I am sorry". However, fans got mad, doubting her apology when her husband, Adekunle Gold, was announced as a cover for Quazar Magazine, a queer magazine.
Adekunle addressed the issue on Tuesday. "The timing of my wife's apology was a pure and simple coincidence. She had no idea about this or any interview whatsoever. She's a beautiful, kind, and loving person, who like us all, has made mistakes. I hope you consider her apology and give her a chance to grow", said the artist in a statement via Instagram.
