Luo Fest Postponed over COVID-19 Concerns

The much anticipated Luo Festival failed to take place last Saturday (Aug. 28) as planned. Media personality Jalang’o made the announcement last Friday, a day to the event, citing COVID-19 regulation concerns raised by Nairobi’s Regional Commissioner.

In a letter shared on social media, Jalang’o was requested to “postpone the event until such a time when the current measures are reviewed in favour of physical/in-person public gatherings and meetings”.

“This moment is a sad one for us and a sad one to everyone who had booked a ticket to support this event,” read Jalang’o’s statement.

He has since assured fans that they will “announce new dates and soon”. Money will also be refunded to those who wish to be reimbursed. Tickets for the drive-in event were going for Kshs. 2,000 per person.
