Burna Boy Makes Spotify History

Burna Boy once again proves to be one of Africa's most popular artists. The Afrobeats star officially surpassed 200 million streams on Spotify thanks to his "African Giant" album, becoming the most streamed African music project and he, the first African singer-songwriter on the platform's history to achieve this feat.  "African Giant", released in July 2019, spawned global smash hits "On the Low", "Anybody" and "Gbona" earning him a Grammy nomination. Congrats Burna!

Mulamwah's Unending Troubles?

Mulamwah is making headlines again, and this time over an alleged cyber bullying incident. Online reports suggest that the comedian allegedly harassed one Fridah, a Twitter influencer, with messages and calls from different phone numbers. Fridah's move to temporarily deactivate her Twitter account sparked outrage against Mulamwah, who not long ago vowed to quit comedy over trolls. Fridah has since returned to the micro-blogging platform.

BET Hosts 'COVID-19 Relief Effort' Benefit Concert

On Wednesday, Black Entertainment Television (BET) hosted a special benefit concert dubbed "Saving Our Selves: A BET COVID-19 Relief Effort". The two-hour special aimed at raising funds for individuals impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. "BET and the United Way have come together for a powerful partnership to provide those in need with the resources to support members of the African American community who have been severely impacted by this virus", said the network via its official blog.
Anthony Anderson, Regina Hall, Kelly Rowland, and Terrence J were the night's hosts, coupled up with amazing virtual performances and appearances by John Legend, DJ Khaled, Usher, Kirk Franklin, Alicia Keys, DJ Khaled and Chance the Rapper among others.
