HBR to Countersue Shaffie for Shs.150m
Homeboyz Radio, through its parent company Radio Africa Group, has threatened to countersue ex-employee Shaffie Weru's unlawful termination claim for Kshs. 150 million. The reply comes a day after Shaffie, through his lawyers, issued a demand letter to the media house threatening to file a lawsuit for unfair and unlawful termination with damages amounting to Kshs. 21 million. The former HBR presenter was fired alongside his colleagues Neville and DJ Joe Mfalme last weekend over victim-blaming utterances of an assault victim on air, causing outrage on social media and threats by advertisers of pulling out.As per Radio Africa's counterclaim, Shaffie breached the company's policies amounting to "severe gross misconduct. He should have known better having been in the media industry for 18 years and receiving continuous training on media regulators' programming codes, broadcasting regulations and codes of conduct and ethics".We will keep you updated as the story develops.Shaffie Weru To SUE Radio Africa Group for unlawful termination. pic.twitter.com/FQ4QQotYMS
