Top 10 Kenyan Wedding Photographers

Top 10 Kenyan Wedding Photographers

Weddings have become a big business in Kenya. We have atleast three wedding shows on local TV stations. The creativity exhibited on Kenyans’ wedding photo albums, CDs and DVDs is enough to tell you how much the wedding photography industry in particular has grown.

I feel like everything Kenyan wedding photography is Ben Kiruthi.  I dare you to count how many times I mention his name in this list of top Kenyan wedding photogs.

1| Ben Kiruthi- Weddings By Ben Kiruthi

Ben’s site won the Best Photography Blog Award at the Kenyan Blog Awards 2014. Ben Kiruthi and his wife Gathoni make up this international and destination wedding photographing duo.

Weddings by Ben Kiruthi is one of the four Kenyan photographers listed in the fearlessweddingphotographers.com. It was also a finalist at the 2014 Wedding Photographers Contest.

Ben tours Kenya monthly to hold workshops to train upcoming wedding photographers as a way of giving back to society and thanking God for his talent. That alone would have been enough to get him to number one. It doesn’t hurt that his name is on everyone’s lips regarding wedding photos.

2| Beena Shah- Zurihsia  Studios

This Kenyan-based Indian wedding photographer is also serves the U.K. She’s the only recommended Kenyan wedding photographer of the four on fearlessphotgraphers.com.

Beena has won 5 awards described on the site as of “stunning wedding photos that excel in redefining wedding photography or are just too amazing!” She describes her work as containing no artificial flavours, sweeteners or preservatives. She adds, “I cannot, however, promise not to include a dash of natural spice and perhaps a little heat to your occasion”.

3| Andrew Kamau- Photoshots

The best thing about this photographer is that alongside his portfolio of wedding pictures are names and contacts of service providers from each wedding he's shot. From MC’s and cake bakers; to tents and sound.

Photoshots- featured on fearlessphotographers.com- also shoots engagements. Their blog gives tips on everything weddings, which is a big plus.

4| Gathoni Kinyanjui- Gathoni Kinyanjui Photography

Destination wedding photog extraordinaire Gathoni is the final Kenyan wedding photographer on fearless photographer.com She has travelled far and wide to capture couples’ wedding memories. Gathoni Photography has been featured twice internationally by Taming Zilla and African Wedding Style.

5| Osborne Macharia- Frontlite Weddings, Weddings By Macharia

Weddings by Osborne Macharia is an Elite Member of the Best of Wedding Photography- the premier invite-only association for the world’s top wedding photographers.

6| Versatile Photographers

This young and vibrant team provides both photography and videography services. Versatile indeed they film fashion and lifestyle; baby and family; corporate; interiors and other types of shoots in addition to weddings.

Versatile has cleverly included photos of their crew and equipment on their site, making a potential customer at ease knowing what and some faces to expect.

7| Mwangi Kirubi- Clicking With Purpose

This is the photog who shot the guys during famed wedding photographer Ben Kiruthi’s wedding. He also does nature, music and sports shoots.

8| Allan Gichigi- Allan Gichigi Photography

Allan specializes in among others documentary photography, portraits and wedding photography.

His site layout is lacking- compared to the other photogs- it won’t have you tripping over to get to the phone to book him for your big day. It unfortunately doesn’t scream out WEDDING!!! But he was the other photographer who filmed the number 1 Kenyan wedding photographer’s wedding, if Ben Kiruthi can trust him who I’m I not to.

9| Martin Macharia- Matt Masha Wedding Photographer

His site is straight to the point. And a variation of a cute pink. I love how he titled Ben Kiruthi’s wedding “The Photographers’ Wedding”

10| Monicah and Timothy Katua- Katz Photography

This is another husband/wife photographing duo.
