Thrift Social , the most-hyped fashion market event, celebrated Kenya's burgeoning fashion, art and music scene yesterday at Delta Towers, Westlands. The theme was '
Made In Kenya'. The market invites fashion and style enthusiasts to shop from a curated selection of the city's cutting edge vendors, attracting a plethora of creatives from fashion enterprises, designers, photographers, stylists, models, art directors and other fashion players in the Kenyan fashion ecosystem.
The installation comes at an opportune time when the local art scene is undergoing a renaissance and introspection.
The first edition with the same theme was held in June 2018 and it brought together award winning Kenyan pop group
Sauti Sol -who delivered a world class performance - and visiting American Hip/Hop Soul duo
Oshun and Durban singer
Shekinah.
Yesterday's show was headlined by celebrated Kenyan superstar
Nyashinski, who was flanked by 2019 BET award winner
Sho Madjozi, and Congolese DJ/rapper/producer
Alec Lomami.
''Zimenice'' hit maker
Chris Kaiga got the crowd dancing to his bop despite the heavy downpour.
And
hunnnnnny! people came dressed to the nines.
*Are you psyched up for the next edition?
