Rafael Amaya returns to the spotlight after a year away, and reveals his difficult struggle with drugs and alcohol addiction. The Mexican actor is known for his role as Aurelio Casillas on Telemundo's hit narco series, Lord of the Skies. He mysteriously went missing in late 2019 and hence failed to appear on the show's seventh season.
A year later, the 43-year-old actor makes his return, speaking exclusively to People Espanol about what happened. The actor reveals that he spent months travelling around Central and South America and Europe. He felt lost and eventually reached out to a close friend after hitting rock bottom. "I felt like I had lost everything, that my life wasn't worth anything." He would later be admitted to a rehabilitation clinic in Mexico.
Eight months later, the actor is back with a positive outlook on life, and hopes his story will be an inspiration to others. "I have nothing to hide, I'm not afraid of anything. I already went up, down, I fell and got back up. With all the blessings life presented to me, I feel I have been reborn. I have faith, I have love, hope, plans."
