The Mountain Between Us is a new thriller film that has brought to life New York Times' best-selling author, Charles Martin's romance novel of the same name, starring two A-list Hollywood actors in the lead roles; Idris Elba who plays Dr. Ben Bass, a neurological surgeon and Kate Winslet who plays Alex, a journalist anxiously rushing to get to her wedding.
A devastating plane crash leaves the duo not only injured but also stranded on the peak of a snowy mountain with no hope of human contact. All hope seemed to be lost when their numerous attempts to get attention of planes passing by rendered futile. They finally take heart and embark on a journey down the ice-cold mountain in hope of finding some sort of help.
It is quite the adventure where two complete strangers are obliged to lean on each other to survive. The intensity shown in the devastation, struggle and romantic aspects are all very compelling. There are some pretty slow parts of the film, which were inevitable given the nature of the film, that are however combated with an unexpected turn of events that keep your heart racing and pondering what more could possibly go wrong.
I know it may be a fictitious but being a typical African, the thought of taking a miniature plane in the first place with a complete stranger and a pilot who I have no knowledge of, is absurd! The end of the film is really unexpected but it spices up the entire movie.
The little ones can definitely be brought in for this one but it's the kind of movie you would like to take your better half to, and I say this because it has a way of getting you all warm and mushy inside.
