Regina's relationship with Gerardo seems like a recurring tragedy that both of them cannot seem to overcome. Teresa managed to separate the two of them with her pregnancy just after they had decided to get back together but she unfortunately lost the baby. This was not the best of outcomes but it worked in Gerardo's favor since he was now free to be Regina. You would think that there would be no more obstacles for them but their adversaries always manage to come up with something to separate them.Teresa for one never runs out of schemes. She had herself beaten up just so that she could accuse Gerardo of domestic violence. Gerardo is now under fire and had to resign from his seat as senator because of the charges as well as convince his daughter that he did not hurt her mother. The worst part however is that he has an alibi that he cannot reveal!Gerardo was with Regina at the time that Teresa claims he attacked her but he is not able to reveal this because it would ruin Regina's political career. She is already running against Alonso for the presidential seat and admitting that she was with Gerardo would only give Alonso more ammunition to attack Regina for adultery as well as destroying their family consequently ruining her presidential bid.After Gerardo was arrested, Regina is now caught between revealing the truth to save Gerardo or save her political career by keeping quiet.
