‘Supernatural’ Series Review: Angels, Demons and Everything in Between
Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are not leaving our TV screens any time soon as their haunting fantasy horror series Supernatural is renewed for another season by The CW Network. The show has thrilled its fans for 12 seasons now with the escapades of its two monster-hunting brothers, Dean and Sam.
The show begun way back in 2005 and the evolving story just keeps getting better and better. In season 11 we saw Dean and Sam’s mom come back to life after she was killed by a demon in the very first season. We also got to learn more about the relationship between their family and the other hunters.
Season 12 introduced the devil aka Lucifer and a plot about his struggle for power in hell against the king of hell, Crowley (Mark Shepherd). The angels ally themselves with the two brothers under the guidance of Castiel (Misha Collins) who is also Sam and Dean’s best friend.
Dynamic storylines are the strength of this show, and probably why it keeps going. The writers do well to avoid the usual good vs evil trap by thinking up creative and unlikely plots. History comes to life in the show as we get characters from the past like Hitler who makes a cameo. Some biblical characters are also in the show with people like Cain the son of Adam who killed his brother Abel having a very interesting story as a human living on earth. Witches, demons, vampires, angels, monsters are all brought together and connected in one way or another.
Supernatural is both smart and entertaining. It’s by far the best TV show to watch if you are big fan of fantasy and horror. Season 13 starts will premiere on October 12, 2017 with a whole new 23 episodes.
