‘Suicide Squad’ Review: Worst Heroes Ever

suicide squad

Suicide Squad has been getting negative reviews from critics, but not from this critic. The movie is pretty awesome. It’s one about honour among thieves. Bad guys who struggle to be good.

The Suicide Squad, also known as Task Force X, are recruited to a top-secret mission by bad ass intelligence officer Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). The super villains, realising that they’ve got nothing to lose, gang up to create the most dangerous bad guys crew ever, made up of Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) and other reprehensible inmates.

Lady Enchantress (Cara Delevingne) who’s plotting on ending all mortal life, frees her equally evil brother to help her do so. She lives in June Moon’s body and can literally do anything, from stealing discreet government files to reincarnating herself as someone else. But she’s got a weakness – her heart. And Officer Amanda Waller has it and doesn’t hesitate to use it for her own gain.

Meanwhile, the crazy, demented and yet absolutely brilliant Joker (Jared Leto), is set on saving his beloved, Herley Quinn from whomever’s got her captive. He doesn’t give a sh*t about what he’s gotta do or who he’s gotta step on to save his queen.

Now here’s where the negative critics come in, hating on Suicide Squad. The movie is a little fake at some point, especially during the major fight between villain versus villains. And why Enchantress is throwing up a pile of trash to the sky using her magical powers to destroy earth is still beyond me.

Also, the good villains are too many, when only what, like four really matter? And what is Batman’s role in the movie anyway? He had no leads whatsoever in regards to The Joker.

However, when it comes to character play, Viola Davis and Jared Leto take the crown for me. And (mild spoiler alert) you’ll realise why they’re called the Suicide Squad to begin with.

 I rate it a 4/5.
