The 3rd annual Africa Tech Summit is set to take place in Rwanda. Kigali will host key speakers among them several Kenyans in the tech industry, over a two-day event in February 2018.
Technology in Africa has grown massively, with companies like Safaricom, Andela and iHub taking the lead. The Africa Tech Summit will bring together over 50 industry players to talk about Connectivity, African Mobility, Internet of Things, investing among others. Elizabeth Rosiello has a vast understanding of Blockchain and through her organization based in Kenya, BitPesa, is expected to deliver a talk. Kenyans who have been invited to speak are Lorren Ajiambo (Taxify), Hannah Clifford (Nairobi Garage), Maurice Otieno (Metta) among others. Erik Hersman of BRCK will also be present.
The summit is supported by the Rwandan Minister of ICT and RwandAir. The Minster, Hon. Jean Philbert Nsengimana in a press release said, "We are delighted to welcome the pan-African tech ecosystem for Africa Tech Summit Kigali 2018. We look forward to connecting with industry leaders and innovators, sharing our vision while gaining future insights from some of the brightest minds on the continent." The Rwandan ICT sector is one of the most highly ranked in Africa by the International Telecommunication Union.
The mission of the event is to drive business and investment within the African tech ecosystem. That is why; new ventures and products by innovators will be showcased in order to connect them with key stakeholders. Tech can also be fun. After the event, there will be a party in the Kigali hills. The summit will offer people the chance to understand the role of technology in developing Africa. There will also be an opportunity to network, socialize and share new ideas with the leaders in technology.
