Time is the most thoughtful gift. That is true and international celebrities gave Kenya their time this year. We had several famous people visiting our country for various reasons and just like any good host would do, we've decided to appreciate their presence here.
Rita Ora
British singer and actress was here. Her visit caused such a wave on social media and her Kenyan fans all wanted to meet her. Too bad she wasn't here for a performance because I think quite a good number of us would have paid big bucks just to go for her concert. She was at Kyulu Hills National Park to celebrate her birthday week. She also met a group of Maasai kids who were very welcoming. Did I also say she went to Enasoit in Laikipia? Yes, that's how deep her love for Kenya is.

Angelina Jolie
Actress extraordinaire graced us with her visit too. The Hollywood A-Lister is a UNHCR Special Envoy and she marked World Refugee Day, celebrated on June 20th, in Kenya. She met with adolescent refugee girls and also addressed staff at the International Peace Support Training Centre during training on sexual violence prevention in conflicts.
Jack Ma
Show me your friends and I'll tell you what kind of person you are- Jack Ma visited Kenya, which means he's our friend, what does that say about Kenya? You got that right. He had a public lecture at The University of Nairobi. He talked about his entrepreneurship journey and he encouraged us to take opportunities and not wait.
Omarion
American RnB singer was here for the Inaugural Afropop Festival that took place at Ngong Racecourse. He gave a memorable 45-minute performance and everyone was singing along to some of his most popular songs.

Major Lazer
Well, it was not technically Major Lazer but two members of the group. Major Lazer is an American Electronic Dance Music (EDM) group comprising of Walshy Fire, Diplo and Jillionaire. Walshy Fire was here on a mission to film a TV show. The film was supposed to showcase the 'unseen' side of the continent and it would feature him along the streets of Nairobi. He was also accompanied by Diplo. They also ended with a well-attended concert by Kenyan EDM fans.
Damian Marley
In June this year, the legendary Damian Marley was here for the Street Fusion Concert. He painted the town red noted by the positive response he got from Kenyans. He also visited the Animal Orphanage in Nairobi. For those of you who don't know, Damian has an adopted lion which he visited and gave a chunk of meat. What a visit!

Ty Dolla Sign and Nasty C
These two were here for the Jameson Connects party and they gave an electrifying performance. It was a first for both rappers and they did not disappoint. These two household names in the music industry are an indication that maybe we are ready for the likes of Rihanna.

Thierry Henry
As the year draws to a close, football star Thierry Henry made sure we were going to have a 2017 to remember. Courtesy of Guinness, being a football fan has never been better because the lucky ones got to meet him for a Fanzone session. Arsenal might be facing its challenges in the pitch but getting your jersey signed by Thierry makes it all worthwhile. His tweet summed up what he felt about his time here.
