REV, a virtual reality racing experience has officially opened at Village Market - a first for East and Central Africa. The grand opening was presided over by chief guest Ambassador (Dr.) Amina Mohamed, CS Sports, Heritage and Culture and guest of honor, Mr. Jean Todt, the FIA president.
Motorsport fans in Nairobi can experience the thrill of racing and the true experience of Formula 1 at Village Market's newest recreation facility, REV. The state-of-the-art racing simulators from Italy are a first for East and Central Africa, offering an immersive, authentic, driving experience on any Formula 1 circuit around the world. The Italian Company that built the simulators also train F2 & F3 drivers in their facilities in Italy.
Mr. Hamed Ehsani, the Managing Director at Village Market said, "REV's simulators combine the luxurious excellence of sports cars with the flexibility of the digital world, guaranteeing a thrilling and realistic virtual racing experience." He added, "The simulators are based on a real Formula 1 model and utilize accurate replicas of all components including the steering wheel and pedals." The simulation offers a refined experience tailored to the skills and abilities of both amateurs and professionals as it allows easy switching between the various difficulty levels.
Formula 1 enthusiasts can compete against one another in the four cars, or individually. The system simulates G-force sensations to create the most realistic and immersive driving experience available. The steering wheel used in REV's simulators is an exact replica of the original equipment used in F1 circuit-racing cars. The seat offers comfortable driving for all drivers, while still being able to simulate the typical racing setup. Each of the four simulators has three screens offering a panoramic view of the track, while the integrated sound system realistically imitates background sounds and motor noises of a Formula 1 circuit.
Jeremy Wahome, a rally enthusiast and the first UK based Kenyan Formula 3 driver, was also present during the event. He enjoyed his experience in one of the simulators saying, "The simulators give a realistic feel of an F1 car and that fans of the sport, will feel more connected to the sport as they would get to practice, compete and even have their friends come and spectate."
REV virtual racing experience is open every day from 11.00am to 8.00pm observing all COVID-19 prevention protocols. Click here for more images of the REV virtual reality launch.
