Another car has joined the market for under one million bob. Mobius had taken up the market with their Mobius II under a million from the showroom. Now Renault has brought the Renault Kwid for nine hundred and ninety nine shillings inclusive of VAT in limited offers. It is an entry level crossover from Renault with production starting in 2015.
The car was intially intended for the Indian market but after getting great reviews it opened up its doors to Africa. The car was unveiled in 2014 at the Auto Expo in India.
It is a five door hatchback with engines ranging froma 0.8 litre to 1 litre with 55horsepower. It is slightly larger than the smallest Renault car, Twingo. It comes with a 7" multimedia touch screen, air conditioning, audio with USB, AUX, Apple device connectivity, board computer, driver airbag, front fog lights, powered front windows, remote door locking and power steering.
One of the downsides I have noted with the car is built with a lot of plastic components inside and outside the car. A problem many Kenyans would go through is to know the car only comes in a five speed manual transmission and most are already used to the automatic transmission. Being a crossover it can tackle the roads upcountry. But all in all I feel it is a car worth your money.
Make sure to visit one of the SimbaCorp showrooms to check out the vehicle.
Kenya never stops Buzzing. You shouldn't either
