To wrap up Pride Month, here are fun video games queer Kenyans will enjoy according to a study conducted by online gaming platform Yahtzee Craze
"Assassin's Creed Valhalla" is number one with 2.67 million average monthly searches. In the 2020 "Assassin's Creed" installment, the player can choose whether Eivor - the main character - is male or female, and from there make certain choices which will lead male Eivor to enter into same-sex relationships.
This is the first time anything like it is possible in an "Assassin's Creed" installment and is also historically accurate. "Valhalla" is set in 873 CE, during the Viking expansion era, when same-sex relationships where not frowned upon, provided that each citizen carried out his duty of marrying and reproducing for the greater good.
Second on the list is "Cyberpunk 2077", a first-person action role-playing game released in 2020. The game has 2.13 million average monthly searches and presents multiple LGBT characters.
First is V, the character the player experiences the game through, who is fully customizable, which means players can make them gender neutral or transgender if they wish. Other LGBT characters are Claire Russell, a trans woman, Judy Alvarez, a lesbian woman, Meredith Stout and Kerry Eurodyne, both bisexual. The sexuality of these characters was confirmed by the creators of the game on Twitter during the same year the game was released.
"Apex Legends" is third, with 1.74 million average monthly searches.
The 2019 game lists six confirmed queer characters: Makoa Gibraltar, whose profile mentions a boyfriend, Bloodhound, who was confirmed non-binary by Respawn's Community Manager Jay Frechette, Loba and Valkyrie, confirmed bisexual and lesbian by senior writer Tom Castillo on Twitter, and Fuse and Seer, both pansexual, confirmed by lead Writer at Respawn Entertainment Amanda Doiron.
Further down, "Overwatch" is fourth with 1.3 million average monthly searches. The game presents two homosexual couples: Tracer and Emily, and Soldier:76 and Vincent. Both couples were confirmed by the game's lead writer Michael Chu.
The top five closes with "Stardew Valley" in which the player can customise the character to be any gender and can have relationships with both male and female characters. The game receives 1.14 million average monthly searches.
