Red Cross Kenya is trending on Twitter for the right reasons. The hash tag they are using is #DroughtNiReal and it's a move to raise awareness about the drought issue in our country. Through the tweets, they are also encouraging Kenyans to do what they can to alleviate the problem by contributing to help those in drought-stricken areas.
Studies have shown that we feel happier when we contribute to other people's happiness. In this case, contributing what you have to the less fortunate is an act of kindness that will probably leave you happier. Their plan is to raise Ksh. 1million to support starving Kenyans.
Even though the course is noble, there are also valid questions with some Twitter users asking what the government is doing with the money allocated for the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB). Some are also asking scientists to come up with ways in which we can purify sea water for human consumption. That will definitely ease water problems. Another suggestion is finding ways to make dry land productive.
What do you think can be done to stop drought cases in Kenya? As you think about that, here are a few tweets that will help you learn a few things you didn't know about drought and starvation.
