Muslims worldwide officially begun fasting yesterday. This fasting period is called Ramadan (also known as Ramzan, Ramadhan, or Ramathan), observed by Muslims worldwide and is one of the Five Pillars of Islam.
The age at which Muslim parents start teaching their kids about fasting will vary according to each child's physical makeup and the family's interpretation of religious text. Some scholars have defined this as being ten years of age, some as young seven but most advocate for adolescence.
We'd like to ask our Muslim parents to chime in. What age is appropriate according to your interpretation of the Islamic religious texts? Chime in and let us know!
We wish you a Ramadan Kareem!
