Poll: Competency Based Curriculum (CBC). Are you Satisfied With It?
It’s back to school! This year was monumental. The CBC was officially adopted in all public schools. As we mark the 3rd anniversary of the Competency Based Curriculum, (CBC) we’d like to hear your thoughts.
The creators of the competency based curriculum envision that at the end of the learning period, every learner should have achieved the following competences
- Communication and collaboration
- Critical thinking and problem solving
- Imagination and creativity
- Citizenship
- Learning to learn
- Self-efficacy
- Digital literacy
Not everyone is happy with this new curriculum. You’ve probably seen the heated arguments on social media on how expensive and unsustainable CBC is. See some arguments here.
A large number of school going children will drop out due to high education costs in Kenya. Government seems less concerned. It is disconnected. Already thousands of children failed to report back to school after 9 months closure of schools due to Covid19.

I beg to differ, Dr. Matiangi wasn’t good for education. He literally ushered in this mess we call CBC. Plus he’s deliberately anti-arts education in our schools since he came to the limelight, despite being an expert in the arts. Let’s call a spade a spade please.

#CBC am I the only one who has a problem with this education system? @wmnjoya complained for ages and no one paid attention. Maybe she was too technical so we missed the point. Mine is very simple, is there an education system that is as discriminatory as this??
