I came across a video on Facebook that elicited varying reactions from the people in the comment section. It's about Kenyan parents who've chosen to raise their kids to speak exclusively in English because it gives them an 'edge' in this very competitive world.
Some parents were gobsmacked! How do you choose to shun indigenous African languages?  Others said they could totally relate. They opined that it's hard teaching these languages to kids in metropolitan areas.
Kenya institute of curriculum development (KICD) is planning on rolling out indigenous African language lessons in school. It's yet to be seen how this will work in metropolitan cities like Nairobi and  Mombasa. Cultural melting points.
What do you think of this? Will this culturally enrich our kids or it'll be a 'tower of babel' kind of thing. Let us know by taking our poll
