Oscars 2019: Round Up Of the World’s Biggest Night in Movies
Rock band ‘Queen’ opened the Oscars’ event with performances from their 1977 hits ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘We Are the Champions’ with special appearance from musician Adam Lambert. Other performances highlighted at the ceremony included Jennifer Hudson,and a duet by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

The award ceremony had no host after Kevin Hart dropped out following past homophobic controversial tweets. The last time the event went on without a host was at the 61st Academy Awards, which aired in 1989.

The Wins
Director Peter Farrelly’s ‘Green Book ’went on to beat Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ in the Best Picture category with the film’s actor Mahershala Ali scooping the Best Supporting Actor award. Green Book also won Best Original Screenplay going against ‘The Favourite’ and ‘Roma’.

Regina King won Best Supporting Actress in the film ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’ whereas Rami Malek and Olivia Colman won an Oscar each for Best Actor and Actress respectively. The two were nominated alongside ‘A Star Is Born’ cast Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga in the categories.

Roma grabbed Best Cinematography as its very own Alfonso Cuaron was feted for Best Director edging out both ‘The Favourite’ and ‘BlacKkKlansman’ directors. It also won Best Foreign Language while BlacKkKlansman garnered Best Adapted Screenplay award.

‘Black Panther’ was among the biggest winners of the night with three wins in Best Costume Design (Ruth Carter), Best Original Music Score (Ludwig Goransson) and Best Production Design (Jay R. Hart, Hannah Beachler).
